Shrestha receives the "Outstanding Student Oral Presentation" award at SBFC

ITiMS fellow presents at "Symposium for Biotechnology for Fuels and Chemicals" in Seattle from Apr 28-May 1 and wins the "Outstanding Student Oral Presentation" award.

Shilva Shrestha has been associated with ITiMS since 2018.  She received funding from ITiMS to attend the "Symposium for Biotechnology for Fuels and Chemicals" in Seattle, Apr 28-May 1, 2019. This conference brought together academics, students, scientists from national labs, and practitioners from biotechnology companies that are working on developing biotechnologies for biofuel and biochemical production.  Shrestha gave an oral presentation on "Optimizing the production of medium chain carboxylic acids from urban organic waste streams" and a poster presentation on "Recovery of medium chain carboxylic acids from urban organic waste streams."  She received the "Outstanding Student Oral Presentation" award (she shared the award with a PhD student from Princeton). The award was given based on presentation style, content, clarity, how innovative the research idea was, and how the speaker answered the questions from the audience.
