ITiMS faculty receive state funding for COVID-19 monitoring of wastewater
ITiMS faculty members Krista Wigginton and Chuanwu Xi received a total of $5M for their respective projects monitoring SARS-COV-2 in wastewater around SE Michigan.
Krista Wigginton, associate professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Kevin Bakker, an assistant research scientist at the School of Public Health received $2.5 million from Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) to expand their team and their research in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti to Jackson and Flint.
Chuanwu Xi, a professor of Environmental Health Sciences at the School of Public Health, and his team of U-M Public Health professors, received $2.7 million from MDHHS for monitoring wastewater on U-M's Ann Arbor campus as well a few buildings off campus.
